2Co Energy Limited is a UK based company committed to delivering substantial CO2 emissions reductions through providing storage solutions for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. 2Co Energy will inject the CO2 into oil fields where it will recover a larger proportion of the oil than is otherwise possible, and then store the CO2 permanently in the oil field. This will enhance the economic viability of CCS projects, inject new life and create new jobs into the North Sea oil industry, increase security of energy supply and generate additional North Sea tax revenues. The company brings together two highly experienced teams with two decades of CO2 transportation and EOR operations experience and a background in developing two of the world’s most advanced CCS projects.
2Co Energy’s Chairman Gareth Roberts, established and led Denbury Resources, the independent oil and gas company, for 20 years. With a current market capitalisation of some $7bn, Denbury’s core business is the use of CO2 for EOR. Its operations are focussed on Louisiana in geology similar to the North Sea, and it has 1000 miles of CO2 pipelines in operation, construction and development in the US, making it one of the largest and fastest growing operators in this field.
2Co Energy’s Chief Executive, Lewis Gillies spent the last five years leading one of the world’s largest CCS businesses – Hydrogen Energy – that developed large scale projects in UK, Abu Dhabi and California and is the only company to have completed the engineering and design studies for two industrial scale CCS plants.
