CCS Cost Reduction Taskforce Recommends Next Steps for CCS in the UK
The CCSA welcomes today's publication of the CCS Cost Reduction Taskforce final report on The Potential for Reducing the Costs of CCS in the UK. The Final Report presents to Government what the Task Force has identified as Agreed Actions and recommended Next Steps to achieve the cost reductions and develop the CCS industry in the UK.

Government heat strategy recognises the importance of industrial CCS for the UK
The CCSA strongly welcomes today’s release by DECC on The Future of Heating: Meeting the Challenge which sets out a series of actions to deliver low-carbon heating across the UK recognising the importance of industrial CCS.

CCSA response to Government announcement on preferred bidders in the CCS Competition
The CCSA has welcomed the announcement to select two preferred bidders in the UK CCS Competition. These projects are the White Rose project in Yorkshire and the Peterhead project in Scotland.

Low-Carbon Industries welcome introduction of Energy Bill
The Carbon Capture and Storage Association, the Nuclear Industry Association and RenewableUK, all three representing over 1,000 corporate members said the government’s proposals for reforming the electricity market would help to unlock billions in investment in low carbon generation, enable the UK to meet its energy security and climate change targets, and create thousands of jobs.

CCSA response to Government Energy Agreement
The CCSA has welcomed the publication of the Government Agreement on Energy Policy. The policy sets a total budget for low carbon electricity generation of £7.6 billion in 2020 and addresses key components of the Energy Bill. View our press release (pdf).

Carbon capture and storage can compete in low cost, low carbon energy future
The CCSA and The Crown Estate have welcomed the CCS Cost ReductionTask Force interim report which confirms that fossil fuel power generation with carbon capture and storage (CCS) has the potential to compete cost-effectively with other low-carbon forms of energy in the 2020s. Joint Letter on Energy Bill & Decarbonisation
The CCSA, RenewableUK and Nuclear Industry Association published a joint letter to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, calling for swift progress on the Energy Bill and an objective to largely decarbonise the power sector by 2030 - to be included in the upcoming Bill.
