The maritime industry faces a crucial ten-year period from 2025 to 2035 to establish its role in the transportation of CO2 and the enabling of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) projects. The necessary expansion of the CO2 carrier fleet, the creation of dedicated port infrastructure, the development of universal standards, and clear regulatory frameworks is creating an unprecedented challenge, but also fantastic opportunity, for the industry. This conference will provide critical insights into the regulatory landscape, technological advancements, and commercial strategies needed to meet decarbonisation targets, and examine the key priorities that must be addressed to unlock the maritime sector’s potential as a cornerstone of Europe’s low-carbon economy.
CCSA EU Deputy Director Stefano Miriello will be speaking in the session “EU Regulatory Framework Development for CO2 Transportation: The Maritime Industry Perspective” at 9:20 BST.
CCSA UK Director Mark Sommerfeld will be speaking in the panel session “Panel: Is a two-speed market emerging in Northern Europe?” at 10:00 BST.
