ERC Evolution was formed in 2021 as an Energy Transition Consultancy. It is a fully owned subsidiary of ERCE. Within the Climate & Sustainability, we support a wide variety of clients engaged in CCS, GHG Emissions analysis and reduction and Climate Disclosure.
The majority of the ERCE team is made up of specialists from the subsurface including geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, modelling specialists and reservoir engineers. There is also a wells, facilities and economics group. Our CCUS projects primarily focus on the subsurface, where we have evaluated the capacity, injectivity and containment of saline aquifers and depleted fields from around the globe.
ERCE provides comprehensive support for CCUS through the following six core services:
• Assessing Risk, Uncertainty & Mitigation: We provide a variety of services to support risk and uncertainty evaluation, leveraging our knowledge of international CCUS assets. We undertake studies from early red flag screening and due diligence to full subsurface simulation modelling of the CO2 plume and pressure response.
• Supporting Project Development and Decision Gates: Our technical studies and risk assessments have been used in CCS Licence rounds, regulatory submissions and client decision gates. This includes assessment of the capacity, injectivity and containment of saline aquifers and depleted fields.
• Audits and Competent Person Reports: We have prepared reports for Regulators, Equity Investors and M&A deals, to support CCUS business activity. We have significant experience in reporting to SRMS.
• Accessing Finance: We have extensive experience in CCS financing as the Lender's Advisor. We have engaged with Banks, Export Credit Agencies, Insurance companies and government regulators during these processes.
• Support for Regulators: Our staff have firsthand experience in developing a CCS regulatory framework. We offer support as regulators build frameworks and systems to encourage and govern CCUS in their territories.
• CCUS Education: We offer training and workshops on CCUS subsurface challenges. We also offer bespoke training on advanced topics regarding policy, industry best-practice & regulatory considerations.
