The Carbon Capture and Storage Association, Energy Networks Association, and the nine additional members of the Energy Bill Trade Body Coalition holding an exclusive Parliamentary drop-in briefing on the Energy Security Bill on 17th May.
The Coalition’s purpose is to act as a single source of credible and transparent pan-industry knowledge for Parliamentarians as the Bill progresses through Parliament. As the first dedicated energy legislation in a decade, the Bill is an opportunity to ensure policy and regulation keeps pace with our ever-evolving energy system. While the Bill was in the Lords, the Coalition worked with Peers to push for the need for Ofgem to have an explicit net zero duty, and we were pleased to see an amendment to that effect supported at division. The Coalition will continue to advocate for this as the Bill progresses through the Commons.
The Bill can not only help overcome the unprecedented challenges the sector faces today, but also ensure the country capitalises on the immense opportunities as we transition to net zero.
